In this series, we look at things that can be done to improve the RV Electric system ...

 Part I: AC outlets

Our trailer has only one outside electrical outlet.
When ever I need AC power to do some work around the trailer it is never near this outlet. An electric BBQ starter won't work in that GFI outlet as it thinks there is a short circuit. I really don't want to use any power tools right by the trailer door. Extension cords are a "trip" hazard to those going in and out of the trailer.

I need more outlets!

After discussing this with "Harold J. Carter", here is what I put together.

Ingredients:
1 - 25 foot RV extension cable
3 - AC outlets
3 - weatherproof outlet boxes
6 - water tight cable strain reliefs
1 - package of crimp connectors size 10/12 (yellow)

Tools:
- Swiss Army knife
- Crimp tool
- Dremel tool

Assembly:
Enlarge the opening in the strain reliefs with the dremel tool and a grinding tip. Size the holes so that the cable can pass through into the outlet boxes.

I think the pictures tell the rest.

Connection:
Connect the extension assembly to the RV, walk all the way around the trailer and back to the power post. Plug it in and you have several outlets around the trailer.
